At 75 years young, I walk most mornings with the assistance of a cane. It’s a question of balance. It is also an answer of balance. Everyone always talks about escapism. No one anywhere at anytime is talking about pursuitism, ever.

I have a name for my mechanical assistant; Michael.

There are 12 signs in the zodiac. One of them - only one of them - is a mechanical device; the symbol for Libra the scales. The remainder of the 11 symbols in the circle of animals symbolically have a beating heart.

This lonesome little blue speck of dust we live on, exists in a nature of balance. Suns shining brightly into a black void. Living beings die, and give birth to a new life. Longer days move relentlessly towards longer nights. Kingship is always followed by democracy; a balance of power from the center outwards. Name any king from the recent or remote past. You have a great deal more power than any ruler born 100, 200, 300, etc. years ago. Just pick up your phone and drive to the grocery and I will be proven right.

By this I mean as de Tocqueville stated — democracy once started is inevitable. Don’t bother testing the next five minutes, five days, or weeks to refute his insights.

All tools are an extension of humanity. The scales are a tool of balance, light loses its power in Libra, and the dreamy darkness overtakes our lives in the Northern hemisphere. This is beyond judgment and it is a natural state in life’s journey on spaceship Earth. Some readers here are looking for themselves wondering if I will say something personal about being born under the sign of Libra. That is a nope. We all need balance. Libra balances others.

The complimentary sign of Aries states “me”, while the opposite and complimentary sign of Libra announces the condition of “we”. All oppositions in astrology bring the condition of maximum light, as well as balance, Oppositions provide clarity in our journey of feelings and emotions that we erroneously call — thinking. And so it goes.

In a statement of first principles, here we are at this point in your reading examining the nature of new Moons. New moons can provide an opportunity for new beginnings. Many of us realize that the unexamined life is not worth living. This new Moon in Libra balances up our carnivorous modes of existing, constantly devouring our environment.

The truth, new lover, better sunsets, cheaper living, new work / stuff / escape from stuff / and the quest for everything else is, as Fox Mulder said, “Out There”. Libra is both a cardinal direction and an air (cardinal) sign. Cardinal signs desire that the other person does all the changing; but they are the ‘other’, because they are balance in the self when taking their own doctoral medicine — physician heal thyself. In your (everyone’s) journey this is a golden new moon opportunity to balance neglect and indulgence until the next new moon in Scorpio 28 days later. It’s a question of balance.
